Proposed Development at 34 Littorina Ave

Another development proposal has surfaced in Littorina Avenue. Information regarding this proposal can be accessed by clicking the following link.

https://www.joondalup.wa.gov.au/34-littorina-avenue-heathridge-three-grouped-dwellings?nocache=true

We would encourage residents, especially those living in the vicinity of the development, to review the proposal and provide feedback to the City of Joondalup via the contact details on the information page. The cut-off date for feedback is Monday 20th August 2018.

Feedback from residents is particularly important for proposals such as this where the applicant is asking the City of Joondalup to exercise discretion with regards to design elements which do not meet the 'deemed-to-comply' requirements.

As the push for higher density within the City of Joondalup gains momentum, we will see more and more of these development proposals on the table in Heathridge. It is important that we, as a community, are clear in what we will or won't accept when it comes to the changing face of our suburb.

Please click HERE to obtain a letter template that you may wish to use to object to development applications.  Please feel free to add/delete parts of the letter according to the specific circumstances of the development you wish to object to.

We are urging ALL residents to provide their feedback to the Heathridge Residents' Association by completing our short survey, which can be accessed by clicking the following link.

"Heathridge Beautiful Verges" Project

Calling for Volunteers

28958871_10155344516638201_8121628988884910080_n.jpg

In 2017 the Heathridge Residents Association (HRA) Committee approved the "Pride in Our Streets" project. This project aims to encourage community participation and collaboration in order to improve the aesthetics of our suburb, as well as make it a more sustainable, environmentally friendly and safe place for our residents. Some of the initiatives of this project include annual rubbish clean up days, encouraging residents to report maintenance issues through our Facebook page or directly to council and beautifying our streets, particularly our major entrance streets.

One of the specific initiatives of our overarching project is to encourage our residents to keep their verges tidy and to use this space to make our suburb greener (the “Heathridge Beautiful Verges Project”). The project will be undertaken through six stages and will aim to provide residents with free plants and information to help them transform their verges into water wise, environmentally friendly and attractive gardens. The project aims to be self-sufficient in the long-term in that residents will be able to donate cuttings from their own gardens to propagate into plants that future residents can then use to plant on other verges. Click HERE for more information.

We are now calling for volunteers who can do any or all of the following:

  • participate in a working group to drive the project;

  • provide advice on the types of plants that may be suitable and other gardening tips;

  • call for volunteers to donate plants;

  • call for volunteers to help propagate plants; and

  • call for expressions of interest from people who would be interested in transforming their verge (or to adopt a neighbour’s verge).

If you want to volunteer, please email us at info@heathridgeresidents.com.au

STRATEGIC COMMUNITY REFERENCE GROUP

CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

COMMUNITY MEMBERS

Strategic Community Reference Group.png

Dear Heathridge Residents Association,

The City is seeking expressions of interest to fill six ward vacancies on the City’s Strategic Community Reference Group.

Community members on the Strategic Community Reference Group play a key role in providing advice to the Council on matters of significant community interest and strategic initiatives within the City.

The group consists of community representatives and Elected Members and meets up to three times a year. Subject matter experts are also invited to provide expert advice on specific topics. Upcoming topics include exploring opportunities to support local business and reviewing the City’s Community Safety and Crime Prevention Plan.

There is currently one vacancy within the North-Central Ward and the City encourages residents within the suburbs of Ocean Reef, Connolly, Mullaloo, Heathridge and Edgewater to apply.

As valuable and active members of the community, I invite your members to complete the Online Nomination Form available on the City’s website by Friday 9 February 2018. It is recommended that nominees read the SCRG Terms of Reference before applying.

For further information, please contact the City’s Strategic Policy Development Coordinator on 9400 4219.
